I first started my journey into the animal care industry over a decade ago after adopting my first dog, an exuberant young Spaniel named Rosie (who is now an exuberant old Spaniel). My love of our weekly training classes sparked an interest in animal behaviour, which I then pursued as a career in professional dog training. For 10 years I assisted and taught training classes and private lessons, worked in a veterinary boarding and daycare facility for two years, and most recently spent two and a half years providing specialty walking services with a focus on behaviour change.
I graduated with distinction from Karen Pryor Academy in 2018, and in 2019 I became a Certified Fear Free Professional through Fear Free Pets. I began to take special interest in pain management when I saw firsthand how much it can affect our animals behaviour and overall welfare through my own dog, a Doberman named Sully. Through Sully’s chronic health challenges I was able to learn a lot about veterinary medicine, pain management, and physical rehabilitation and decided that I wanted to get more involved. I’m so excited and grateful to be a part of TVRC’s awesome team, and look forward to bringing my training background to the clinic. I have a special interest in behaviourally challenging (or what I lovingly refer to as “spicy”) dogs and hope to help make rehab as accessible to all pets as possible.
